Meat Preservative – Advice, Help, and Opinion
Hi,
A Dubai Company that manufactured a new brand ‘meat preservative’ product have requested me to look for buyers and how to market it in Nigeria. The company had tried to market the product in Italy and were advised Nigeria is a better option.
Any advice, suggestion, help and opinion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kaz

My advice is, you demonstrate a sample, show to the people of Nigeria that the product is safe and reliable. get a legal statement and visit eateries and companies.
By the time people get to know about it, you will be happy and your account smiling.
Thanks apeiron for your advice. Do you know any specific company that would be interested?
Meat preservative won’t sale in Nigeria because the only preservative we know and are interested in are Deep Freezer and Hot Fire. We are not used to the culture of preserving meat with chemicals except for the dealers and retailers. I doubt if people like Shoprite and other major retailers maybe interested in it since they usually preserve their meat with deep freezers too.
The truth about meat preservative is that it is dangerous to health. The major chemical component is Sodium Nitrite (NaNO2) which even though it works wonder in preserving meat. This chemical when in human body, helps develop molecule that causes cancer. It does so by damaging some cell in the body and aggregating them into dangerous pathogen.
The reason why he turned back from his first choice of market (Italy) may just be because the government rejected the product from being imported into their country. Here we may not have such responsive government but we surely have our guts. A lot of us were brought up from culture of preserving meats by drying it with fire. So we are not really used to the chemical stuff.
Meanwhile, find out from the NAFDAC first to know if they allow the product before daring to import.
Thanks Darlinton for your enlightenment, I’ll make more research about the product and make sure is not something that causes health issue.
Meat Preservatives? Is a NO and it should not be encouraged! Storing Animal Protein with Chemicals?
That’s not going to do any good.
Hi
Thanks for all your advice.
However, I have to apologise to have misinformed you guys that I had just found out that I was mistaken when I said the product was a meat preservative but rather the product increases meat size, it is natural and scientifically proven to be free of any chemicals. You may call it additives if you want.
In a nutshell, the product in powder form is added to water and properly mixed to form a gel substance that can be mix with meat product to increase the size.
Please I would like your response on this also
Thanks
Kaz
Is that supposed to be a magic? the size will increase? In Powder form?
White Juju self……
I know Technology can be so mad, but when it comes to something we would eat, something that has to do with our body system, one need to be careful.
I don’t think Nigerians will go for this Powder that increase meat size
